Featured: "Film Is Time Travel" - This short film features scenes from over 15 million feet of 16mm film that the Center for Sacramento History houses in its film archives. The city, its people, the famous, the infamous, and so much more are seen in these rare clips. "Redevelopment: Old Sacramento 1965" - KCRA-TV reporter Otis Turner takes us on a tour of the area now known as Old Sacramento. In the 1960s, Sacramento's downtown and West End were going through major phases of redevelopment. The oldest, most historic part of town was in poor shape and had become the city's skid row. In this film, you will see what was, and the early stages of what was to come. Today, Old Sacramento is thriving with restaurants, businesses, night clubs, the Delta King riverboat, as well as the Sacramento History Museum and the California State Railroad Museum. It is hard to believe that what once looked like a post-apocalyptic wasteland is now a beautiful location to visit and explore Sacramento's historic past. "Sacramento Aerials 1978" - Join helicopter pilot/reporter Dann Shively and KCRA's AIRWATCH in the skies over Sacramento, California, and surrounding areas in the mid to late 1970s. We see the reconstruction of Old Sacramento and the California State Capitol, various freeways and overpasses, farmland, and shots of the Folsom Dam, Sutter's Mill, El Dorado Hills, and dozens of other locations. This footage comes from two different b-roll sources shot on different days from the KCRA Collection at the Center for Sacramento History.
