Featured: This video is one of several from the investigation of Sacramento serial killer Dorothea Puente. In it, we see Sacramento Police Department Detective John Cabrera interviewing Puente on November 11, 1988, the day human remains were found in her yard after officers came to her house inquiring about one of her tenants who had been reported missing. Dorothea Montalvo Puente was an American convicted serial killer. In the 1980s, Puente ran a boarding house in Sacramento, California, where she took in elderly tenants and people who had experienced addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and incarceration—people who had few resources, family, or friends. After drugging her victims, she would keep their bodies in a room in the house for a time, then bury them in shallow graves throughout her garden, and cash their social security checks that came in the mail. She was charged with nine deaths, with several more suspected, and died in prison in 2011.
